    I just had a septoplasty with turbinoplasty , endoscopic sinus surgery with navigational bilateral and it took 4 hrs , about had a heart attack on the table , my heart rate spiked to 178 and they had to give me an injection to steady my rate, the Dr never even mentioned any of this to me , I found out through the nurse, they let me go home shortly after waking up and I was so out of it I don't remember the next 3 days , this is now day 6 , never would I recommend this surgery to anyone

    I have constant blockage in my nose - some days are worse then others, but it's always there. It's led to me suffering from severe sleep apnea which has been going on for 7-8 years now. I did a sleep study a few years back (during the Covid period) and was told that I was only getting about 30% of the oxygen levels of a normal person. Up until now I have been putting up with it, but the past couple of years it's been getting to the point of dangerous. I fall asleep and have naps at my desk at work almost every day which people have noticed and is not a good look, and I've had three car accidents over the past couple of years because of microsleeps - two of them were very mild (I just scraped the car against a wall with minimal damage) but the third was a rear end collision that actually wrote off the other person's car. When I get a cold or flu and actually get a blocked nose, my breathing gets so restricted that I have (2 or 3 times) woken up in the middle of the night gasping for breath thinking I might not make it throught he next 30 seconds. Every single night I use nasal strips AND dab some vicks under my nostril which helps just enough for me to be able to get a passable sleep - that has been helping to the point where I'm not longer having the microsleeps and falling asleep at work has become less prominent (but still happens). I've tried nasal sprays and salt water rinses - occasionally they help a little bit, often they do little to nothing. I've told all of this to my doctors in the past and all they basically ignore my comments about my nose blockages and keep pushing me towards CPAP machines - which I already tried and struggled to breath with it on. I have kinda been holding off, but I think I'm at the point where I really need to see an doctor and push them to book me in for the surgery. I've reached a point where I am sincerely concerned for my career, my health and the people around me.

    Agree with others that after one week, I still couldn't breath any better than prior to surgery. With that said, after one week, the blood clot removal via salt water irrigation slowed. I am hopeful that the final result will be like how I could breathe right after the stents were removed. Dr. said it could take up to 3 months! Ok. I am waiting. 🙂

    Got mine done yesterday. Has already stopped bleeding and can breathe through one nostril. He described the pain perfectly, it’s just like being punched/hit in the nose. Super congested still on the left side and lots of gross discharge. Looking forward to a week from now when I can start rinsing it out with a Neti Pot.

    Arham thank you for the great videos about your septoplasty! My question for you is, how long before it would be safe to fly after having that surgery? My job requires being on multiple flights per week, and having to lift heavy objects during that time. I really want to get a septoplasty so that I can breathe better through my nose but I can’t take a month off of work. Thanks!

    • @schmemmm
      @schmemmm 8 часов назад

      From what I have read that's really down to your surgeon and what they recommend. For the first two weeks you really want to be resting...a week at very least. You will be tired because you can only mouth breath during the first week. Plane - up to your surgeon, pretty sure at least 2 weeks due to cabin pressure but you can ask all these questions of your ENT office before committing. With intense exercise they say anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks no intense workouts. I'm at week two and definitely wouldn't want to risk any intense exercise or risk of knocking my nose. I'm fairly paranoid about even my eye glasses sitting on my nose. But really it's up to your surgeon.

    Hi all, I want to share my experience after undergoing FESS along with Septoplasty on 17/07/2024. I have been suffering with stuffy nose with occasional bleeding, 24/7 cold and headaches from the past 14 years and doctor said that we can proceed with septoplasty after my 21. Due to my study and work commitments and I didn't got time to proceed. But I am getting frequent cold with fevers. Then I have visited the ENT hospital and they have taken a PNS scan and said that I need to undergo FESS(Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery) along with Septoplasty. Literally I was not tensed as I am only imagining the end result like I can be free with this stuffiness and headaches and lead a quality life after the process. I have stopped eating and drinking even water for about 12 hours before the surgery. DAY1: I was admitted to the hospital and the doctor has started the surgery at 11 AM. I was given anestesia so I don't know what has happened and after 5 hours I got consciousness and I was in an ICU. This is the most worst thing happened in my entire life till date why because I can't breath with my nose and must not drink water and only breath through mouth which is really annoying coz it dried out my throat like hell and I can't do anything other than staying there. After 6 hours I was given water and that is the best part at that moment. And then I was shifted to ward room and that night the pack is there on my nose and I should sleep only with my head elevated and that is manageable. DAY2: In the morning the doctor visited me and removed the packs and dropped some drops of nose drops and I felt like I am breathing the entire oxygen from the World 😂. But that honeymoon period only went for half an hr. After that my nose got blocked again due to the nasal secretions(combi of blood and mucus). I got discharged on that evening. There is a little bit of pain and discomfort in my nose. It is almost like if a cricket ball hits you with a great force, you will not get pain but you will have a lot of discomfort. DAY3: My nose is really stuffy and the nasal dripping is also controlled and the doctor said that it will be like that upto 3 to 5 days and asked me to clean with warm water poured in a syringe and clean with that. Let's see how it will be in the coming days. I will definitely recommend to undergo this and please fix your mind to struggle yourself for at least 7 days and I think everything will be fine after that. DAY 4: Swelling and blood+mucus discharge got reduced and pain got decreased as well. DAY 5: Very little discharge and pain in there. Swelling also decreased i my right nostril side. Went to hospital and doctor has cleaned my nostrils with some cloth dipped in some solution and after that I felt a lot of relief. But at the night it again started to block again. DAY 6 Blockage is still there and had lot of pain in my nostrils today as unknowingly I hit my nose with my hand during sleep because of a bloody mosquito and very little to no nasal discharge. Cheers 🙌🏻🤘🏻

    I got it about 3 weeks ago and the first week was like nothing different. Then the doc removed silicone stuff inside my nose (i think they were there to help the correct healing) and then i was able to breathe. Buuut doc say that it takes about 1 month to get the final result. Now for example i cannot breath completely ok but it's normal.

    I got my septoplasty done in India last week. Till now I never experienced pain in nose (due to painkillers) and the doc removed the nose bandage next day. The only discomfort I experienced was that my mouth and throat went complete dry for the next two days and it was very painful to drink/eat.
